L2T is a one-time beginner's pottery class great for individuals, families, friends, and dates. Get a feel for how clay moves on the wheel before investing in a series of continuing education classes or expensive studio equipment. Celebrate a birthday, anniversary, or other social occasion with the gift of a shared learning experience! Clay, glaze, and kiln firings included. Students receive a detailed throwing demonstration, before trying it out for themselves. Focus is on process not products. While learning to operate the equipment and access the studio space safely students will also gain firsthand knowledge of basic pottery-turning techniques. Up to 90 minutes of class is used for practicing methods of centering, opening, and pulling up a cylinder. An experienced instructor will work with each student to prepare 1 pot on the wheel (up to 3 may be kept) that can be fired and picked up in 3 to 4 weeks. Group learning experiences are not equivalent to receiving private lessons, as each student may be in a different work stage, requiring alternating levels of attention throughout the event.
