Pisgah Forest & Nonconnah: The Potteries of Walter B. Stephen (June 28 – December 14, 2019)

Image: Cameo close-up, Walter B. Stephen, Pisgah Forest Pottery, 1938.

No longer in operation, the Nonconnah and Pisgah Forest Potteries begun by Walter B. Stephen in 1913 and 1926 were instrumental in bringing art pottery, most notably pâte-sur-pâte cameo and crystalline pottery, to western North Carolina. Come learn about the significance of Walter Stephen, his two historic potteries, and the techniques he used while viewing an extraordinary selection of those historic pieces.

Please join us for the opening reception on Friday, June 28, 2019 from 5:30—8:00 pm. There will be a Clay Talks! presentation by Rodney Leftwich from 7:00-8:00 pm relating to the Pisgah Forest & Nonconnah: The Potteries of Walter B. Stephen. Our reception is free of charge and open to the public.

This exhibition will run from June 28-December 14, 2019.
