The demonstration is free to the public. A small admission fee ($2.50) is charged to go through the museum/center and see the historical and temporary exhibits.

Please join us for a fun, exciting and educational Raku Firing at the Center led by Delores Juanita Farmer, Delores Pottery.

Delores is a NC potter based in Durham and the Pottery Studio Manager at Liberty Arts, NC. She is one of the up-and-coming Raku Artists of the state. Self-taught, she has been working as a full-time potter since 2013 and is drawn to organic shapes, colors and texture. Balancing her own intentions with the intentions of the clay keeps her ideas and guidelines soft and pliable, ready to be altered. Using different techniques while making and glazing allows her to create contrast and depth while aiming to produce pots that reflect the imperfections of textured lives revealing their true character and beauty.

You’ll have the opportunity to see Delores produce her pots and observe her artistry in action. Work will be available for sale.
