North Carolina Ceramic Gems (January 22 – June 19, 2021)

Image: Amphora by Terry Childress.

Every day potters across North Carolina take clay and other natural resources, combine them using their knowledge, shape them into both simple and wonderous things using their artisan skills, and forge them using extreme heat (and sometimes flames) into a kaleidoscopic array of ceramic gems.

North Carolina has a large number of potters all making their own ceramic gems ranging from utilitarian to more contemporary. This show, Ceramic Gems, focuses on the work of a dozen of those potters. You may already be familiar with some of the featured artists, others may be a bit less familiar and a little further off the beaten path, figuratively or literally, for you. Come explore their work with us.

Featured Artists:
Stanley Mace Andersen, Alan Bennett, Marina Bosetti, Benjamin Burns, Terry Childress, Garry Childs, Becky Lloyd, Chris Luther, Dian Magie, Michael & Ruth Fisher Rutkowsky, Brad Tucker, and Jim Whalen.
