Stoneware pottery. One of my many goals with pottery is to try to make pots where each one has its own personality. I also try to make pots that I would love to have and use in and around my own home.

My name is Mark Ewing and I am a potter in the Catawba valley tradition. I was trained by 3rd generation C.V. potter. I do traditional local forms using alkaline and slip glazes. I wood and electric fire.
Our pottery is created on the potter’s wheel using high fire porcelain. Using our own custom made crystalline glazes, zinc crystals are grown inside the glaze during the multi-level firing schedule. Our pieces are both decorative and functional.
