I have been a pottery for 45 years and create several lines of functional pottery plus ceramic sculpture. The "Blue Mum" line of functional pottery is wheel thrown stoneware featuring cream and blue glazes and flowing floral motifs. The other line is wheel thrown and handbuilt porcelain that is carved, stamped, and textured and is glazed is green glazes. My sculpture has been a journey starting with research about the prehistoric goddess figure in all cultures. My interpretation of the goddess form eventually led to expressing my views on a variety of social and political issues. Currently, I still explore the human body but without the historical reference. I am also interested in the bottle form in a variety of ways: southwest inspired, simple with bright colors and subtle matte pastel colors.

I re-opened Arbitrary Forms Studio when Karen and I moved to Asheville in 2015. I create unique functional objects and sculptures that explore shapes that I have made and the ideas that formed them over the past 40 years. At this point, my practice focuses on vessels that are based on combinations of positive and negative, volumetric shapes with surfaces that include binary symbols based on Morse code and other systems of representation.
