Summer Clay Camps   arrow

2024 Summer Clay Camps: Tuesday -Thursday: 10am-2pm & Saturday: 10am-12pm

Two Sessions:

Clay Kids (Ages 7-11), JUNE 18, 19, 20 & 22
Kids will learn the basic techniques to create hand-built ceramics: pinching, coiling, slab. They will make things like colorful masks, cups, mugs, lidded jars, planters, and wall pockets.

Youth Pottery (Ages 12-15), JUNE 25, 26, 27 & 29
Campers will learn the basics of using a potter’s wheel. They will make things like cups and mugs, bowls and plates, and decorate with textures and glaze.

The camp fee is $155 per child for the full session. No sibling or partial attendance discounts. Works will be glaze-fired and ready for pickup in 2-3 weeks.

Non-refundable registration fee. Payment is required in advance to secure a spot. A parent or guardian must complete and sign a clay camp registration form for each child and then email it to education@ncpotterycenter.org or drop it off at the North Carolina Pottery Center prior to the start of camp. Your child will not be able to attend camp if we do not have a completed form on file. A downloadable version of the form can be found at the bottom of this page.

Dress for a mess. Bring a water bottle and pack a lunch.

No hand, wrist, or long necklace jewelry. Long hair must be pulled back. Closed-toed shoes only. Layered clothing. No electronics or toys are allowed during class time (excluding fidgets). Lunch break will be outside for 30 minutes Tuesday-Thursday depending on the weather, plan to pack accordingly for hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, and bug spray.

Dropoff will start at 9:55 am

Pickup will be 2 pm on Tuesday-Thursday and by 12 pm on Saturday
