Opening Reception: What’s For Dinner?

August 5, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Exhibition dates: August 5 – November 25, 2017

Handmade dinnerware does more than feed a hungry body—it provides the user with visual nourishment and tactile delight. What’s for Dinner? celebrates the connection between ceramics and food through the work of twenty North Carolina makers, including:

Cady Clay Works, Courtney Martin, David Voorhees, Dean & Martin Pottery, Doug Dotson, East Fork Pottery, Great White Oak Gallery, HAAND, Heather Mae Erickson, Jugtown Pottery, Mangum Pottery, Melissa Weiss, New Salem Pottery, Nick Moen Studios, Nine Toes Pottery, Original Owens Pottery, Sedberry Pottery, Stanley Mace Andersen, and Westmoore Pottery.

Please join us for the opening reception on Saturday, August 5, 2017 from 12-2 pm. The reception is open to the public and free of charge. All dinnerware in the show will be available for purchase.

Be our guest! We’re hosting three intimate dinners at the North Carolina Pottery Center featuring the dinnerware that’s on display.

  • Join us on Friday evening, August 4, at 6 pm for a delightful four-course dinner with wine prepared by Elliotts on Linden of Pinehurst, NC! Only 20 tickets are available at $160 each. Executive Director Lindsey Lambert will be your host for the evening.
  • Check back soon for information concerning the 2nd What’s for Dinner? dinner event.
  • Check back soon for information concerning the 3rd What’s for Dinner? dinner event.

All proceeds from these dinner events will support the center’s mission of promoting awareness and appreciation of the history, heritage, and ongoing tradition of pottery making in our great state!
