Join us on Thursday, August 4th at 6 pm for a slide talk by Josh Floyd, the center’s artist-in-residence as his residency at the center comes to an end. Josh’s slide talk will focus on his work, process, and inspiration, as well as his time as AiR at the center.
Josh’s retrospective show for his residency at the center opened on Saturday, July 16th, at noon. Says Josh, “This exhibition is the culmination of my work as the Artist-in-Residence at the North Carolina Pottery Center. While continuing to focus on wood firing and salt glazing my own work, I have had the unique opportunity to be immersed in Seagrove’s rich and diverse culture of pottery making. If the influence of Seagrove past and present is not immediately evident in my current body of work, my time here will certainly continue to inform my pots for years to come. Many thanks to the staff of the North Carolina Pottery Center in their support of my efforts as Artist-in-Residence.”
A potluck at 6 pm will begin the evening’s events, followed by the slide talk at 7 pm. Come out for a great night of food and community!
This presentation is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Center at 336-873-8430. This ongoing lecture series is facilitated by Josh Floyd, the Artist-in-Residence at the Pottery Center.
